I just got my retro pie 3 set up and so far haven't had any issues with roms, but I'm wanting to update FBA to lr-fba-next

I am a total noob at this and have searched for hours and can't find anything that makes any sense to me at all. I need someone to give em step by step instructions or something.

This is where i get this files, right? https://github.com/libretro/libretro-fba

I'm also trying to install unibios for neogeo games so i can change the region, but can't egt that to work either. Do I put in the unibios and the neogeo bios together or do I need to open the unibios file and add them to my neogeo bios file? so far all my roms work fine as i have a complete set i download so i'm sure the match the current version.

Also, I am lost on how you up change your controls in FBA. Does lr-FBA-next allow you to change controls via menu like mame?

Any help would be great I am driving myself nuts looking for info.

          I have Pi 3 (RPi3) Model B Quad-Core 1.2 GHz 1 GB RAM

I have installed the newest release of Retro pie and am only using the stock emulators which came on that release.

Looking to update to lr-fba-next, install unibios for neo geo, and learn how to configure controls once updated.

Is that the latest stable release 3.8.1, or the latest (4 RC1)?

Ok, you can change/set your emulator used by using the runcommand as the game starts:
                https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/runcommand

That way you can set it to lr-fba-next
You can see the romset version needed for lr-fba-next here as well as how to verify them:
                https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs

Here is some info on UniBios and lr-fba-next
                https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/1648/lr-fba-next-and-unibios

Please read the Docs before asking a new question.

Awesome. Thank you so much. I changed it over, but after downloading The dat file for whatever Emulator i'm using and the program it says :

"Open retropie-dat-master and you should see a list of folders. Each folder contains the .DAT files for the respective emulator. We will only be using C:\retropie-dat-master\mame4all\MAME 0.37b5.dat in this tutorial."

I can not find "dat master" anywhere in my retro pie install. where is this at?

The dat files available for download are here:
                    https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs

The one for lr-fba-next is here:
                    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2TMeZ6iEFvHamozOVVZQkpUVHM/view?usp=sharing

The guide you are following is designed to be run on windows, then copy the resulting roms that have been verified across to the Pi.

The video on that page may help as well.
