      I built another Arcade Cabinet!
Its a Raspberry Pi 3B, RetroPie 4.4 with Attract Mode.
Its made of 15mm poplar wood, black pearl acrylic glass and 3M chrome lists.
The hardware: 2x 8w usb speakers, a 15" 4:3 lcd screen, ledstripes, 2x Dragonrise USB Encoders, 24mm chrome buttons and gold balltops.
(I decided to go with 4 action buttons since I already own a dedicated fight/SF2 cab, fightsticks and whatnot.)
The "pixel-wood-camo" pattern is made in photoshop, vectorised, printed on vinyl and applied to the wood before I cutted the parts.

      Some early sketches/plans/CNC-files..

      alt text
      cardboard dummy.

      alt text
Voila! All the cables, speakers and encoders sits on a shelf below the screen.
Its easy accessible from the back, with the entire backplate being a door on hinges.

      alt text
I wanted it to look like whiskey and 80s synthesizers.. (makes no sense)
The screen bezel, CP and marquee is made in one piece, pretty proud of that.. :)

      alt text
      Details.

      alt text
The bar! Complete with sexy time lights, mirror, gold & chrome walls and a curved vault roof. The roof made w vinyl on a bended pvc plate.

      Thanks for looking!

I tried to sell a design like this to my wife once, but she didn't like the idea of the booze being IN the cabinet of the thing the kids will want to play with most.

I told her I could put a lock on the door but, she didn't want to have to find the key to have her martini. Perfect balance of concern and laziness.

Can you change the color of the led stripe? I know it is not the case but the red led keeps making me think the booze is getting warm. Given that is the case blue should make me think the booze is nice and cool. Also I'm still trying to decide if the Solo cups are a prefect touch or just the thing to kick it into college frat cabinet.

            Very nice build.

I see the vinyl wraps up the front . Did you curve the the transition from the monitor to the marque or did you just curve the vinyl and not press it into the seem?

What kind of wood did you use to make it?

@lurker yes, it's a cheap led stripe with rgb colors that u can change. And yes, the marquee /cp/ bezel I cutted in one piece. Its not vinyl but directly printed mirrored on the back of Plexiglas that I bended..

@lilbud I think the English word is poplar, kind of a pine wood, layerd, pretty cheap. I didn't pay for it though, got it at work.

Good choice. I would have otherwise been worried that the it would have creased or torn if some one pushed on it near the seem.

@Dipkid A really well built and unique design. The only gripe I have is that I don't see any place to put down the drinks when playing!?

@clyde no, you're right but they're on their way, fold down or push out cup holders on the side I'm thinking.

I was thinking the same thing. I started poking around the internet for ideas and I think your best bet if you want to have pop out cup holders is to look on automotive parts and get one of their spring loaded pop out cup holders.

You could have a simple pull out drawer or swing out fold down holder, but I think this calls for some push button or push release system.

I think in another style of cabinet it could work, but you are using wood and stylish materials. I think a Gatsby style one would look better. Just an opinion. Very nice build. Love those buttons

Back from the dead.. It only took about 2 years, but over the weekend I dusted of the ol`booze station.
                                          Redid some wiring and made some upgrades;
New Bezel / CP / marquee & new buttons.

                                          Sorry for #zombiethread
