How to make a quick and simple theme?
-
I'm using the Carbon theme set and I want to make an additional one for an experimental emulator that doesn't have one of its own. I had a search and was told to duplicate an existing theme folder, rename it in line with the emu, and replace the SVG files in it with my new ones.
Which is all well and good, but try as I might I can't get the Pi to let me create, duplicate, or move a new folder into /etc/emulationstation/themes/carbon
I've tried editing the folder permissions to 0777 but it won't let me do that either. Anyone know what's going on?

@spudsmctoole That's a system folder. Instead, copy the theme to
~/.emulationstation/themes
where thepi
user has the right permissions and edit it there. The folder is also accessible via file shares at\\retropie\configs\all\emulationstation\themes
so you can easily edit and test your theme from your PC. -

~/.emulationstation/themes
I'm not sure what you mean by that :(
If it's the link in home/pi that leads to /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation, there's no themes folder in there.

@spudsmctoole (I just tried creating themes>carbon>zx81 in that folder, rebooted, and ALL of my themes vanished...)

Yes, that's th folder. By default there is no
themes
folder, but you can create it and then copy the theme's folder in there.
