Frontend solution for a grid category selection

Greetings everoyne,

i plan following functionality into my arcade machine that i build up here.

1. Sorting games by Categories: 2player, action, jump & run ....
2. Assigning icons to the categorys
3. displaying them on one screen selectable with up down left right and not by carusel and without the Machines categories, just the custom ones.
4. Returning back from any game into the category overview by a button (not in the sub category)

I know ES comes with retropie and i already started todo own game collections but atlest point 3 and 4 i cannot figure out so maybe some of you guys know a Frontend or a Solution ?
