Hi all. First off let me explain that my IT knowledge is beginner level at best, and I picked up my retropie second hand so I have no idea what model/specs it is or how to find that out, so please be patient with me.

I'm playing through Abe's Exoddus on the playstation emulator and have reached the "insert disc 2" part. Sat through a few youtube vids to find out how to do that, so I know about ejecting the virtual disc and all that stuff.

The problem I'm having is that when I then try to load disc 2 and it cuts back to the game I get a message saying "incorrect disc inserted" (in the game itself, not Retroarch).

There's only one Abe's Exoddus file in the PSX ROMS menu, so it's not a case of me clicking the wrong file.

I know that without my system specs I've not given you much to go off, but can anyone help me out here?

You're using a .pbp file, which contains both disks, so you don't need to browse for the 2nd disk. You only need to use the Disk Control menu and use the the following commands

      • Disk Cycle Tray Status (eject your current disk)
      • Disk Index should be set to 2
      • Disk Cycle Tray Status (insert disk) again.

I picked up my retropie second hand

What does this mean ? Selling RetroPie systems is against the project's license. Did you buy it ?

Okay, I tried that that but it doesn't solve the problem. Still getting the "incorrect disc inserted" message when I cut back to the game.

From a friend of mine, yes. He bought it from the official site back when it was the most expensive model. A more expensive one with more games has now been released and he wants to upgrade, so, since I was planning to buy this model anyway he sold me his.

As I said earlier, selling RetroPie is illegal. There is no 'official site' you can buy it - especially including roms. The only official site is this one. Please review the forum rules - we don't support 3rd party images.

@mitu I guess that's something you'd have to take up with whatever site it was my friend bought his setup from. I'd give you the link he sent me, but I recently switched phones from iphone to android and the link was saved in a whatsapp group on my old phone so I don't have it anymore.

So, any other ideas on how to solve this disc swapping problem?

[EDIT] Okay, I found another thread somewhere saying to reset via the hotkey after inserting the next disc (which I wasn't doing before), but now the problem I have is that when I do that the game freezes just after the Playstation logo screen and the only thing I can do is back out.

Actually @Chris1982 , if you want support and aren't using the official image from this website, then you need to contact the retailer for support. We do not support third party images here and certainly don't support any form of selling of the Retropie project.

I know it probably sounds harsh, but we can't support every image that someone has created to make money off of other people's hard work. Retropie is a project designed to give you a starting point. Then you know what you have changed or modified from the stock image and can work with it. It is not a flawless games console type experience, every installation is unique. If you (or someone else) bought it from somewhere (quite aside from the fact they shouldn't be selling it), they should be supporting it for you.

Can you define "image?" I'm confused.

A third party image or installation is anything that you haven't set up yourself. Primarily, we don't support them because they're almost always associated with pirated material, such as game ROMs that come preinstalled. However, as a matter of practicality, it's also almost impossible to support a RetroPie setup where the owner has no knowledge as to what has been done to it. If you wish to receive support here, you'll first need to install a fresh copy of the official image, found here.

@mediamogul Awesome, thanks for the clarification.
