      Corpse Killer on MegaCD+32X
I just remembered a game I hate, but it is not only the game itself, it is the hardware also which lead to. I was a poor child and was proud to have a Game Boy, NES, SNES and the Mega Drive/Genesis all together. And when I hear about the Mega CD, I quickly wanted to have it. And then the 32X also released. It took me long to get that and man was I proud about those console extensions. I knew that new hardware don't automatically does better gameplay, but what I got was worse than almost anything else (only Rise of the Robots was worse). Don't forget, it was a time before the Internet.

I got Corpse Killer for a few bucks. The package got me excited for some reason, the realistic graphics and in combination with the hardware, this was a real killer game in theory. So, I went home with the game, put all puzzle peaces together, Mega Drive + Mega CD extension + 32X extension! That must blow my mind! And it did, but in opposite direction!! Words alone can't describe this failure, watch the below YouTube footage yourself. This is probably the second most hated game to me.

@thelostsoul It's like they were trying for the so-bad-it's-good vibe but didn't get past the BAD part...

System Config: Retropie 4.4 with full desktop, RPi 3B, 256gb SD, 5v 2.1A 5,200 mAH USB battery. EasyMSX controller mounted with Pimoroni Hyperpixel 4 (non touch). Also running 4.6 on a 4gb Pi 4 serving as my primary desktop computer now.

          @thelostsoul Corpse Killer!

Yes, the Genesis + Sega CD + 32X was unwieldy at best. That game was so much fun in a "B" movie way. It's bad now. It was "not great" then. The stereotypes are what they are. The acting and plot are amusing.

@IanDaemon The cutscenes in the video were pure cheese and quite amusing. The gameplay looked godawful.

@IanDaemon Yeah off course it is fun in a B-movie way. If you expect that, then you can have a lot of fun with friends. But I was expecting high quality stuff like Donkey Kong Country (quality wise, not gameplay) where the graphics really stand out and aren't cheap. I got the famous Mega Drive console with the power house of 32x and CD.

The fun thing is, watching the video from my comment, the same game Corpse Killer exists as a CD only version too which does not require 32X. And that guy say that he don't see any difference.

@thelostsoul There actually was a small difference in the number of colors in video footage. Not a huge difference. I think I found a comparison video online somewhere. Oh sorry. I was thinking of the Sega CD vs Sega Saturn video comparison of that game:

@IanDaemon Wow, I even didn't know that it had a Saturn version. O.o

Without question, the Super Nintendo version of Race Drivin' is easily the worst "game" I ever played.

The arcade version at the time was amazing, but this version was unplayable. Horrid framerate made it impossible to drive, but even if you could stay in the road for 10 seconds, you'd crash for unknown reasons.

Just a shame. Maybe an FX chip could have salvaged this nightmare.

@roslof OMFG that game was given to me as a gift, and I am REALLY glad I didn't buy it. I had the opposite problem, there was a pattern that made the game so easy it was unplayable. No joy in that game. Complete garbage.

                        M.U.S.C.L.E. for the NES.

I love a good wrestling game. I hated this... you do the math. ;)

World Championship Wrestling was great! Tag Team Wrestling I didn't hate but it was unplayable to my 14 year old self without a rapid fire button of some type. Pro Wrestling was fun. My favorite was Tecmo Wrestling.

It's so bad I have to say it a couple times.

@roslof @VictimRLSH I just compared videos of the arcade version and the snes version of Race Drivin'. Wow, I am puzzled how the publishers of the snes version didn't see that horrible frame rate and say, "ok guys, nice try, but we can't sell THAT". 😵

edit: That said, I couldn't stop playing Stunt Car Racer on the Amiga back in those days. But although it also has a painfully low frame rate by today's standards, it played very well as far as I can remember. Maybe nostalgia, but maybe not. 😉
