to crash when I try to load any artwork file with the invaders romset.
the overlay (without backdrop) used to work fine with lr-mame2003 (on Pi3 B+ ).
Maybe could you try to start with the sitv version of Space Invaders?
On purpose I created a 1920x1080 backdrop and the coordinates should cover the whole screen as said. It means by just renaming the .art and the .zip same as the romname it should display correctly with any vertical rom (810x1080 game area) 1080p screen.
I created a SITV backdrop zip file in the same folder for your testing. -

No access to my Pi right now :-(

are you on windows or linux ? I had to manually set it too 3:4 here is a screenshot
https://github.com/libretro/mame2003-plus-libretro/issues/551
for the pic you cn see the rotation is changed
-
@grant2258 same results as you, and noting that while the moon is sidways… the color overlays now take on the color of the background. So the green bottom is half blue.
-
@grant2258 first pic seems to shows correct backdrop image proportions but.. it's rotated.
Not sure but it would make sense for the backdrop to follow actual set rom rotation.
Maybe Invaders is an exception; I must try with other vertical games. -
i tried the invaders over at mr do seems to be working fine will take a shot for you and post it on the other github page
-
@grant2258 Created a new version with rotated backdrop.
Could you test it with 3:4 setting (your first pic layout) ? -
updated the github page what i will say is the aspect from the core is well off as well
-
@grant2258 you can upload images directly to this forum if you use the "cloud with an up arrow" button instead of the "picture of a mountain" button.

cant says the files too big

@grant2258 ah ok :(

Alert! Mame 2003 Plus is saving settings to my All RetroArch config, even when I have save changes on exit = off.
I've tried it about 10 times now, and it does it every time.
Can someone else try to replicate, before we open a ticket. Just change any option while in game, then exit Retroarch, and then open Retroarch to see that change persist.
-
@mikeylikesit33 if you are using my overlay from the repo, as it is 80% opacity, the backdrop shows thru a bit where the 2 overlap. The current issue is positioning and aspect of the backdrop. Once solved I'll crop the backdrop to fit and no more overlapping/see thru.
-
@mikeylikesit33 can you clarify what saving exactly soudn more like a retroarch issue/setup rather than a mame one :)

You mean the whole "old artwork" including both bezel and backdrops ? In that artwork all images are rotated 90 degrees.

@grant2258 could be... I just created a fresh system with Retropie 4.4.4 this morning. No other emus on it, so didnt test others. I’ll check it out more.
-
@grant2258 OK. Thanks. I think I finally understand what's happening.
I suppose the actual game created the game area rotated by 90 degrees right; monitor was then mounted rotated 90 degrees left; meaning it would appear correctly to the player.
Therefore the calculations for the .art file need to be done already considering the 90 right rotated game area and backdrop image (that's why the mr do artwork images are all rotated).
Will redo the coordinates calc tomorrow and create a new backdrop zip to test. -
@markwkidd where did you get this screenshot from? https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/17766/mame2003-plus-hundreds-of-new-games-improved-input-features-new-bugs-now-with-runahead-support/569
