      @DrSubsonic Do you get a login prompt as the last line on the screen ? Login with user pi and password raspberrypi, then run sudo raspi-config and configure the Auto-Login to Console in the Boot Options.

      I'm not sure if I did.. screen goes black too fast.

      I will get a microSD card reader tomorrow so that i can at least make changes..

      how can i set this so i can at least get to command prompt?

      f4 doesnt seem to do anything

        @DrSubsonic F4 works from Emulationstation, from what you're describing you don't get to Emulationstation. Are you using a proper power source ? Please add the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first to the topic.

          @mitu

          The system has a powersouce in the arcade unit.. and a LCD.. it was working perfectly before the software package update for a day.. and the shop sells a lot of these so I assume the power supply is correct.

          I should be able to see whats going ifi can stop emulationstation from auto starting... or is it retropie that is autostarting...

                @DrSubsonic Emulationstation should run via autostart, there's no 'retropie' program/application. Did the image came pre-installed with the arcade ?

                    We don't support 3rd party images - see https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
                    Moreover, commercial usage of RetroPie is forbidden by its license - so the seller has illegally sold it to you, RetroPie is free.

                    Use the image from retropie.org.uk/download if you want support here in the forums - or ask the seller for support.

                          If RetroPie came with the system, it was sold with the system.

                          That is normal in RetroPie. It's less secure than in most other Linux systems, but I guess it's just a compromise for convenience.

                          That may be the best course of action if you neither can fix it by yourself nor get support from the seller.
