Hi there, i have question/issue with this theme regarding snapshots & video snapshots.

im using ES v2.8.0rp-dev

most of my roms have a snapshot & video snapshot, the snapshot displays for a few seconds then the video snapshot plays,

however,

for some of my roms i dont have a video snapshot available only the static snapshot , but in this theme if a video snapshot is not available it will not display the static snapshot at all.

if i switch to the neo geo theme that you created everything works fine when a video snapshot is not present the static will be displayed.

is there something i can amend in the .cfg files to correct this?

This theme is gonna go on to my new PC.

When I saw a new ruckage thread in the Themes section my first thought was "Newgen theme". Did he rename it and finally made it available? Unfortunately it wasn't but this Pandora theme is very nice. Just please stop making more themes I am running out of devices here. Or someone should create a theme randomizer, so that every time you turn on your Pi a different installed theme is loaded. That way I can enjoy all your themes.

I think I know what might be causing that but I'll need to look into it, I think its just the way video snapshots work though. In the NeGeo theme I have both the video snapshots and a static snapshots defined separately but the problem with this is if the snapshot is a different shape to the video (eg. if you have box art as the static image) it will be visible behind the video.
The best option is probably for me to add an option to enable static snapshot if needed in the config file so I will update the theme shortly.

Hi @FlyingTomahawk, great to hear from you. Sorry for not replying sooner I've been visiting family.
I can't promise I'll stop making themes so you may just have to make space for new device :D (though I really need to get back to the snes mini theme next, especially the recalbox version that I promised).
And I will definitely release a new NewGen, sorry I got your hopes up this time.

I hope you had great Christmas as well, mine was hectic but fun. My Dad liked his console though he was a bit rusty so needs some practise. My 5 year old Niece and Nephew were there as well so they were introduced to some retro games which they both enjoyed enough to put their tablets down. They played Marvel vs Capcom (my niece won every game). Then Bomberman which was tricky for them but they slowly got the hang of it. Then Zombies ate my neighbours which my nephew seemed to enjoy - especially turning into a monster and smashing walls. And finally some Metal Slug which my nephew enjoyed even though he died a lot.

Your Christmas sounds like a ton of fun, I envy you.
I on the other hand had to work. Japan doesn't give Christmas the same value as you guys in Europe. But I spend a nice evening with my wife and 4 dogs, watched a comedy movie and had a few beers.
Even though I must admit it is hard to ignore and not touch my new PC or gaming in general even for 1 day. But I got through it. :-P

No worries about the Newgen theme. There is still plenty of time... just do what you gotta do first. I know the Recalbox guys are eagerly waiting for your SNES-mini theme.

Again, thanks a lot for the new theme really appreciate your dedication and work done.

I think I've found a bug:

If a game entry has no video attached to it (no <video> tag in the gamelist.xml), the skin won't display any other images (eg. boxart), even if they are are linked in the gamelist.xml

This only happens with this theme. All other themes (incl. SNES-Mini) work fine.
