      Hello,
Since last update, my video preview in emulationstation turns blue. It seems a vlc issue.
So, as said in another thread, I changed the player to omxplayer, and it's back to normal, but strangely, only for emulators different from arcade.
For example, videopreview works for nes, snes, c64 but not anymore for lr-mame2003, lr-mame2003-plus.
I double check the configuration files, and everything is in correct place (as it works before, for all emulators).

      This is my config :
Pi Model or other hardware: Pi 3B
      Power Supply used: original rasperry
      RetroPie Version Used : 4.4
Built From: (Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
      USB Devices connected: keyboard
      Controller used: 8bitdo bluetooth

All "arcade" videosnaps are from progetto's website. They are mainly h264 with small resolutions (224*258 for example).

If I replace a snap from "arcade" with one from "megadrive", it works, so it's something in the video format but what ? Cannot understand why it suddenly doesn't works anymore ?

      any idea maybe ?
      thanks

It's a known problem with omxplayer and arcade previews downloaded by the sscraper - just like you guessed is a codec incompatibility. There are a few topics on how to convert them, here is one of them.

Thanks. I will go back to 4.4 image and don't update.
I don't want to re-encode thousands of video because of a vlc bug.

@carlhungus74 I wrote a script some time ago that only converts the incompatible videos and leaves the working ones alone.

I recently used it on 2451 newly scraped arcade videos and "only" 671 had to be converted.

              Thanks for the information.

I re-download the videosnaps from progetto here :
              http://www.progettosnaps.net/videosnaps/
At the bottom of the page, you have a HyperSpin format, which is compatible with omxplayer.
Can be faster than scrape/convert again.

It depends how many roms you have and how many of them are part of the current mame set 0.201+202 if Progetto or scraping will be better. But a good option nonetheless.
