Controller not seen by LR-Stella

Hello,

I'm a Retropie Newbie here and have a couple of questions. I've managed to get Retropie setup and updated. I also got my Steam controller configured and can use it to navigate the Retropie interface. However, when I run an Atari 2600 ROM the emulator uses the keyboard instead of my controller. How do I change the controller that Stella uses?

Also, as side note, I saw references to "lr-stella" and just "stella" as if they were different things. What is the difference between the two?

I'm sorry, this was a total newbie question. I'm figured out about TAB in stella since. I also gave up on the steam controller and bout an 8bitdo one. Seems the support isn't quite there for the steam controller yet.
