      @mitu

      Ok some more info.

      I started a game. Took my keyboard hit f1 and hotkey so that I opened the menu. I hit “back” and went to main options/input tab. Input 1 I changed to my usb controller. Now I can use the controller in that menu to set al the buttons but as soon as I leave the menu I can’t use the controller in game.

      I’m stumped

        Another update. I’ve managed to get the psx controller working after messing with some settings. The psx emulator for some reason automatically assigns my arcade sticks as user 1 and 2. I have to manually go in and make my Gamepad user 1. I have to do this every reboot. Is there a way to have the psx emulator recognize this Gamepad as user 1 automatically

          @Dthruking You can re-order your gamepads using the Configuration Editor or the Joystick Selection tool (which is more flexible). Both methods will keep the configuration so you won't have to re-configure each time.

            Will that just reorder it for psx emulator? Also what will happen if I unplug it? I only plan on uninformed it for psx. And using my arcade sticks for everything else

              @Dthruking Both methods allow you to re-oder the gamepads on a per-system basis, so you can do the re-ordering just for PS1. I recommend trying out @meleu's tool and see how it works.

                Thanks I’m going to try that out.

                I have a question. I’m not to experienced with all of this.

                curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection/master/install.sh -o install.sh
                bash install.sh

                When I type this in to terminal it gives an error. See below. Am I doing something wrong?

                  @Dthruking I think you have a typo somewhere - and the image you posted doesn't show the full command line. My guess is you put a space before the 1st command final install.sh.
                  There are 2 commands to be typed

                  # Command 1
                  curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection/master/install.sh -o install.sh

                  # Command 2
                  bash install.sh

                  I just tested the 1st command (where the error occurs for you) and it's working fine.

                    @mitu

                    Ahhhh yes that was my mistake. I didn’t realize it was 2 separate commands.

                    Worked.

                    So now when I unplug my psx controller. Next time I plug it in and go to a psx game it will automatically know that it’s plugged in?

                      @Dthruking No, you'll have to read the documentation on the project's page to configure it first.

                        Yes I have it all configured. I’m just wondering now as far as unplugging the Gamepad.

                          I find myself on every game having to hit select and F1 to enter the menu. Going to settings, input, input user 1 binds and having to change the user 1 device index from my joystick to my Gamepad.

                          Then it works great.

                          If I exit game and go back or go to another game I have to repeat this step. Any idea?

                            @Dthruking It means the re-mapping doesn't work and your 'keyboard' always comes first as player 1.

                              So there is no way to fix it then?

                                @Dthruking Make sure you configured your joystick order through the joystick selection tool correctly. If that doesn't work, then try to use the Configuration Editor for the psx system and switch the indexes for the joysticks so that your controller becomes P1.

                                  Yes in joystick selection for psx I have my Gamepad as 1, joystick 1 as 2 and joystick 2 as player 3

                                  I will try the other thing you said shortly and report back

                                  Thanks

                                    This controller stuff is gonna be the death of me. I can’t get anything to work and once I get it to work if I turn off the system or exit the game the controls go back to default.

                                    To top it off I plugged in a n64 controller for n64 games and when I go to play a n64 game when I backout of the game none of my original joysticks work anymore, they need to be remapped.

                                    This is killing me

                                      Did you choose 'Save Config on Exit' in RetroArch at some point ? This will mess up your controller configs sooner or later.

                                          @Dthruking Can you post your /opt/retropie/configs/psx/retroarch.cfg file ? You can find it also via file shares at \\retropie\configs\psx\retroarch.cfg. Just open the file, get its contents and post it here surrounded by code tags (```).
