RetroPie and Dualshock 4.
-
Alright, so, I'm pretty experienced with Linux and Raspberry Pi's but, this one is baffling me so I want to pick your brains, the brains of my brethren.
Story is, comrades, that I have purchased an RPi3 and created a monster retro box. However, I am personally attached to the build of the Dualshock 4. I, being a huge nerd, have 6 of them because I like colors and shit, so I have no qualms dedicating 2 to my RetroPie.
I was using ds4drv, but having to put it into pairing mode on every boot drove me nuts, so I did some research, and discovered that retroarch 3.6+ connects to Dualshock 4's just fine, and is supposed to be like magical and sexy and stuff. But when I do it..i get ridiculously sporadic input craziness. I wouldn't call it latency. When I launch a rom, the emulator configuration menu will appear every time even if I touch no buttons, and in this menu, my selection basically moves all over on it's own, sometimes it goes fast, sometimes it'll stay on one option for awhile. Even if it's the option I want, hitting the confirm button does nothing.
I would very much like to not have to pair my controller on every boot. But, this is quite the predicament because it takes a very long time for the selection to find it's way to Launch and an equal amount of button mashes to get it to actually do so.
Any help or insight would be appreciated.
Pi3 1400cpufreq 400gpufreq 400v4dfreq Linux 4.4.16-v7+
EDIT: I would like to report that I mistakenly forgot to mention that ds4drv does not display these irregularities.

I have the same problem like you. DS4 goes crazy and presses random buttons. I dont know how to solve this. I installed a ps3 controller and it works perfectly, but now i cant use onboard bluetooth options and cant use again the ps4 controller...

I have the same problem. I just updated to the last version and now my DS4 is messed up. I cannot acces the RGUI menu anymore. It presses random buttons often.

I installed Retropie 4.0 rc1 and DS4 goes a little better, it reacts fasters, but sometimes it continues pressing random buttons, so i decided to just use DS3 controllers, you have to pair it with an usb cable but it goes perfect, maybe the best controller for rasp. I think DS4 drivers have to be improved, just be patience.
