      @FlyingTomahawk Yeah, and a halon system would suffocate you. I'm sure he has something in place.

        I follow LEGO Ideas to see what kinds of innovative things people build from LEGO bricks. And yes, there are oldschool computer nerds over there. Behold The Disk:

          Looks like this thread is been grayed out so i guess we need to keep it alive then.
          Last year December I finally build my new PC and now that I have the necessary CPU power to run Demul I set everything up and I must say very, very nice and addictive. I never could enjoy playing Ikaruga or Zero Gunner 2 or Border Down since I lacked the PC power. Going from a i5-2410M, Intel HD 3000, 15 inch (1366x768) notebook to a modern PC is just awesome.
          Also got me one of those high refresh rate monitors that can be flipped vertical and now I was ready to do what I always wanted to try.

          Now that I know things work I have to dig out all vertical shooters and give them also a try.

            @FlyingTomahawk It feels awesome going from a shitty laptop to a proper desktop computer. I had much of the same kind of laptop and decided to just build a computer instead of buying a $300 laptop every few years.

            What monitor it that? I'm looking for a new one cuz mine is 10 years old and is close to dying.

              @FlyingTomahawk Amazing! The only thing that does lower the coolness a bit is the plain grey keyboard. šŸ˜‰

                @lilbud

                That's a AOC G2460PF monitor.
                I heard Viewsonic makes also very good gaming monitors for reasonable prices. Like the XG2401 or XG2402

                @Clyde

                Yeah, I know that keyboard looks shitty but it does its job for now. šŸ˜… At least until I can get me one of those fancy gaming keyboards.
                Maybe I should have put the arcade stick on there instead of the keyboard. 😊

                  @FlyingTomahawk it might not be a pretty keyboard but it looks pretty retro to me. ;-)

                    I know retro games can reach high prices but this one is a new level of crazy.

                    I'll keep my eye on it. Curious to see if someone is crazy enough to pay such a price.

                      @FlyingTomahawk For that price does Spider-Man actually come over to your home and play with you? Maybe I missed that as I’m still very bad at reading Japanese.

                            I haven't posted retro pickups in a while, so here's what retro stuff I've added since my last post with those awesome Christmas gifts. (I also bought a bunch of Switch games, but you don't want to see that.)

                            Nights: Journey of Dreams - Wii
                            Screen Shot 2019-01-17 at 7.51.19 AM.png

                            I replaced the dead CMOS battery in my Dreamcast and upgraded to a replaceable battery holder while doing so. Now I don't have to set the clock every time I turn it on.
                            Screen Shot 2019-01-17 at 7.51.43 AM.png

                            Not retro, but for a retro system. The Brawler64 is a really nice modern controller for the N64, and at only $30 + shipping it's way more affordable than the highly sought after Hori controllers
                            Screen Shot 2019-01-17 at 7.51.53 AM.png

                            My first N64 game! Puyo Puyo Sun 64
                            Screen Shot 2019-01-17 at 7.52.12 AM.png

                            and so I don't need to cut up my N64, a guy I know 3D printed a universal tray for me so I can play Japanese games without taking them apart or cutting up my console

                            I bought this neat little PC-shaped AM/FM radio with the intention of putting a Pi in it. I'm not sure what I'll make it do yet, but for now it's disassembled in a bag with dryer sheets because it stinks like smoke
                            Screen Shot 2019-01-17 at 7.52.26 AM.png

                            I found a really clean copy of Tetris for NES. According to @celly this game is kind of OK
                            Screen Shot 2019-01-17 at 7.52.50 AM.png

                            Most recently I picked up a PlayStation SCPH-7501 with the intention of eventually putting a PSIO in it. It was only $13 plus shipping for everything pictured, and it works perfectly, but wow, it was stinky like smoke and had a brown haze over everything. After a full teardown and cleaning it looks really nice and it is de-stinkifying in a huge bag with dryer sheets. PSIO won't be available again until March at the soonest, so it has time.

                              @obsidianspider ā€œthis game is kind of OKā€?! You take that back! That game is awesome.
                              Nice haul btw. That Brawler pad live up to the hype?

                                Get a GDEMU in that Dreamcast, they're awesome - and you don't have to worry about the laser burning out in the future.

                                  I'd actually really like to get a USB GDROM as it has better compatibility, but attempting to buy one is a sketchy process at best.

                                    @celly I only have one N64 game right now, but I can definitely say that it rocks with Puyo Puyo Sun 64. I have an EverDrive 64 v3 on the way, so I should be able to give it a better assessment soon.

                                        @celly I did mine, last summer. And can honestly say, it was the best purchase I have made since the C64 Pi1541, the Atari SIO2SD, Spectrum Divide. Really fast loading, much faster than the USB version, and great compatibility.
