2-Player support with USB Gamepad and Keyboard
-
Hello! I'd like to play some two player games such as Freeway on Atari 2600, Hyper Olympic and Donkey Kong. Currently I have a USB game controller (the one for the XBOX) and a keyboard which is bound to Adafruit Arcade Joystick using RetroGame. But for the sake of simplicity let's say I've got a USB Gamepad and a keyboard. I've already followed these instructions (https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroPie/comments/62g3k6/how_to_setup_retropi_for_2_players/), and I've set the default controller order. When I do that I can only set up the USB one, as the keyboard is 'Unset'. So I've set #1 to 'Unset' (I want to use my keyboard and there fore the joystick) and #2 to USB gamepad. Then I tested it in Freeway. Player one is controlled by the keyboard. But when I move the USB controller, Player 1 and 2 move simultaneously. I know the cause of this - #1 is unset, but how do I fix this? I don't want the USB gamepad being the default controller, I want the keyboard to be it. Thanks!

Please add more info about your system, as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.
Have you tried to use the system as is - without changing any controller order, etc. ?

I'm sorryfor not adding enough detail, the editor for the posts is badly formatted on my browser. I've played a while random games with normal configuration with keyboard and then also alone with the controller. It works fine. My system: Raspberry Pi 3B+, XBOX game controller, retrogame, the official SD card (I downloaded it myself.) retrogame: https://learn.adafruit.com/retro-gaming-with-raspberry-pi/adding-controls-software.

It works fine.
You can configure your keyboard as a controller in Emulationstation and see if it's also seen as a gamepad by RetroArch based emulators. Since you've not indicated what emulator are you using when you're having problems, it's hard to say if it will be enough.

@mitu Yeah, so I pressed Configure Input and held a button on my keyboard and configured the input. It still says '0 - Unset, 1 - USB Gampad'. This happens in Atari 2600

Do you guys think there is fix for this?
