Sega CD and PC Engine CD from an external usb pen drive using easy hax method

@zefolhadela said in Sega CD and PC Engine CD from an external usb pen drive using easy hax method:
im using a rpi 3 B+ hooked up to a crt, 32gb sdcard, and a 1TB usb pendrive from ebay.
There’s the problem right there. There is no such thing as a 1TB usb flash drive. These are known to be fakes and are actually 16 to 32 GB drives with the firmware hacked to read to an OS as 1TB. They are made poorly and have slow read and write speeds. If you load more than the 16 or 32 gigs, the drive starts to write over old data and corrupting it.

@mitu indeed, i think @lostless is right, is a problem with the pendrive. @lostless btw is that a chance that i get some of the files currupted right? cause some psx roms are not loading, since i start having problems with the files, is a chance that zipped files get currupted aswell? (im starting to get scared man, i get such a premiere collection picked up 1 by 1 man... ;S)

@mitu how can i go back to the original configuration, just unplug pendrive, restart system, and copy the stuff to the original location?
-
@zefolhadela if something is not loading, the file is corrupt. There is no way to recover the data
-
@lostless sure just random games, from psx. i think this only damage some psx games.
-
@lostless can i put you just a simple question? some of my psx game got currupted and i cant eeven load them, but all roms (most zip files) are running.. my question is can some roms be currupted but still running? (i was playing sonic hedgedog on genesis and i notice some frame drops randomly, so i start suspecting i need to replace all my games, in other words, nightmare for me .sbolded text

@zefolhadela If a game is running, it is not corrupt. I never notice frame drops on sega genesis games. Thats a different issue not related to the memory card.
-
@lostless much thanks for the anwser man. is good to know that i dont need to replace all roms. i need to check that, maybe is the crt config (which makes pi run at 240p) but pretty sure is not about that
-
@zefolhadela If you are using any type of additional video filters, you my notice few frames dropped. The PI not very graphically strong. The only filter i use is the built in bilinear filter in retroarch, which doesn't take any cpu resources.
-
@lostless nahh, im not using filters i am aware of that, i have my pi hooked up to a crt direcly, i just have my boot config modified, so i have menus ate 480p and that switch for game to 240p. something like this https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/8476/retropie-240p-15-khz-rgb-scart-tv-guide/2
