Sites for video snaps
-
i have used the scraper and it does a really good job on pulling all the info for most games, but there are a few missing.
what are some good sites that others have used to get the game info and maybe snaps.
i have tried a few but nothing really pulled up or one was in a different language that i have no clue what it says. lol -
@ExarKunIv when you say scraper not sure which one you are referencing; I used Selph scraper with screenscraper.fr as the source. That being said I also had a few games(oddly very old arcade ones) where the videos were not playing or downloaded after scraping so I went a non-expert way and just searched YouTube for “(game name) Mame arcade video snap” and found 30 sec clips set up for that purpose. Then I just used this concerting website
https://youtubemp4.to/
to make it a mp4 and all of those mp4s have played just fine. I think I have seen other people recommend emu movies for one off downloads but I didn’t feel like creating an account and the YouTube method didn’t take me much time for each one. There’s probably also some other better more expert or efficient ways that I don’t know.... -

Do you have a list for those titles with missing video ?

@mitu
Altered beast
Arch Rivals
Batman
Burgertime
Centipede
Defender
Gauntlet 2
Joust 2
Ms Pacman
Pacman Plus
Pac-Mania
Pit fighter
Q-Bert (can’t remember for this one if I added after my original scraping or not)
Rampage
Robotron 2084
Simpson’s
Superman
Turtles in TimeI think for most of these the directory shows videos supposedly having downloaded from the scraper but they were not playing in ES meanwhile a ton of games from the same screenscraper source in Selph Scraper did play.

@BJRetro Have you tried progetto-SNAPS?
http://www.progettosnaps.net/videosnaps/videosnaps_files.php
-
@dudleydes nope! That might be the better and more efficient way I figured existed but didn’t know about! (Have you checked if the downloaded videos work on ES? I read various posts about different codecs so some videos work and some do not and so once I found the YouTube method consistently worked I stopped there lol).
-
@BJRetro I have been using videos from that site for my arcade-only Picade build. They work fine with the default video player (VLC 2.2.6, I believe) but not OMX player.
-
Yuv444 is a known problem for OMX player. There are at least two scripts to fix that for multiple videos, one by myself and one from @hiulit. May be worth a try if most scraped videos work, but some don't.
