Couple Nagging Issues
-
Hello All,
First off let me say I love these new forums. Lots of good people here who can help and even make changes to RetroPie as needed.
I am having a couple issues with a couple things.
First off, Dreamcast. Every time I start a game it asks me to reset the time again. These pis are going into a dental office and so I cant have that, is there any way to circumvent that, also is there any way to make it so games always play at 60hz instead of asking for 50 or 60.
Also, I know I have seen it somewhere but I cant find it now, I want to be able to use joysticks in RetroArch games instead of the D-Pad but I cant figure out how to alter my retroarch.cfg correctly to make it work. I would apprecaite any help available here.

For your last point: you can essentially swap your dpad and left joystick axis if that's what you want. All you'd really have to do is go through the emulationstation configuration dialog again, but use the analog stick instead of the dpad. The dialog doesn't really care what you set to each function.
Alternatively, what I like to do for certain systems is write in
input_player1_analog_dpad_mode = "1"
. This will basically make the dpad and analog stick function the same, so if you're tired of the dpad or stick, you have the option to use the other one without having to do any config changes. You can add this line to the main retroarch.cfg for all systems or to specific system's retroarch.cfg where you want it enabled. You can also access this setting in the Retroarch GUI. -
This setting is also available from the configuration editor - https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Configuration-Editor

Awesome thank you both very much for your quick help, I am going to try this now

Please make sure to let the person responsible for the dentist office practice know that they will be legally liable for any piracy of game software used on your RetroPie installation so that they don't suddenly get surprised if they get thousands of dollars of fines and software audits. Happened to a company I know who had their own playable MAME machine.
