@rderooy said in Vectrex emulator always starts Mine Storm:

My guess to what is going on, is that Mine Storm was the built-in game for the Vectrex, and that instead of starting the selected game, the built-in game is getting run.

That's certainly the issue. I just ran a full update and all my games are still working.

      Some questions:

      • Were these games launching before your recent update?
      • Did you run the RetroPie Setup Script before running the update?
      • Did you run the quick update or the update all option?
      • Have you tried a rom set obtained from a different location?
      • Can you post the contents of your /opt/retropie/configs/vectrex/emulators.cfg?

Well, I spoke too soon. I can confirm that 'Mine Storm' launches in place of any game chosen from emulation station. In an effort to quickly confirm, I was only looking at the overlays instead of the actual game. I gave it another look and sure enough, it's 'Mine Storm' or nothing.

              I can confirm it - I have opened a ticket - https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/issues/1607

It will most likely be due to a breaking change in the libretro core or retroarch I should think.

Upstream issue https://github.com/libretro/libretro-vecx/issues/6 - I will build a new binary before this broke so you can update now, and hopefully the upstream change will be fixed or reverted.

Working binaries are rebuilt - please update lr-vecx via retropie-setup or from commandline you can do sudo ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_packages.sh lr-vecx install_bin

                    @BuZz
Works like a charm. Thanks again.

If you want to play these with their original overlays, have a look here.

@BuZz Thanks for the update, I can confirm that it works again!

@mediamogul That is exactly what I had been doing :-) The only thing that I miss is the Vectrex cabinet, and the glow that the original display had for the lines.

Hi Guys, sorry for the newbie q here but got a bit of an odd one.

Originally downloaded the link from mediamogul I think it was, copied into vectrex roms folder on pi3.

But stupidly I used zipped roms which didnt work. It just kept selecting minestorm.

Didn't realise this was a potential bug anyway, so removed everything from roms folder, unzipped roms and sent over everything again.

Now I can't get any of the overlay's to work even though the folder structure is no different and it still keep selecting minestorm?

What Gives? Is it looking for a specific title for the rom? Why are my overlays now not working...jeez!

Updated lr-veccx btw via retropie setup and currently running retropie 3.8.1

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks guys

@joeblade did you go into retropie setup and update retropie setup, then install the emulator from there?
