        @shavecat Try it and see if anything else still works - i.e. if your N64 games crash or not.

              @shavecat OK, then keep the setting for now and take note if you encounter any issues in the near future, just so you know what modifications you've done and be able to back them out.

                @shavecat try using the default 256mb for vram. If you restore your config.txt back to stock settings it should be enabled by default. I have never had issues with vram set to 256mb.

                  Isn't the default VRAM limit 400mb?

                    @IanDaemon On a stock RetroPie image, the GPU allocated memory is 256Mb.

                      @IanDaemon default memory split is based on the amount of total ram on a particular model of pi. For Pi's with 1gb of of ram, 256mb is allocated to the GPU by default.

                        @quicksilver Oh you're talking about the memory split, not the vram limit.

                          @IanDaemon yes, I was not referring to the vram limit. But on that subject vram limit on a pi with 1gb of ram is 944mb

                            @quicksilver Do you happen to know how to test for memory on the Pi? I was updating and my house had a power fluctuation. I think something may be corrupted. Things work, just some things are slower.

                              @IanDaemon

                              from terminal run

                              sudo apt-get install memtester
                              sudo memtester 500 10

                              You can change the "500" value to however much ram you want to test (in megabytes, remember some of your ram is taken up by the gpu). The "10" is the number of test loops.

                              You want all tests to pass (ok)

                              Edit: Now that I am re-reading your question are you asking how to check the sdram or sd card for errors?

                                @quicksilver I was asking for the memory on the pi itself. Your answer was applicable. :)
