      Hi there,

I'm on the latest Release Candidate and I was wondering if it is possible to hide Emulation Station until the video is done. Emulation station appears at the top and bottom behind the video which I can only assume is due to the aspect ratio.

Alternatively, I'll have to edit the video and add them myself.

      Thanks!

You could also make a splash screen that is all black which would be indistinguishable from normal letterboxing.

The problem is although we tell omxplayer to display in front - the black background layer has a lower priority that can't be set (it needs to be fixed in omxplayer)

you can make ES wait though

edit /opt/retropie/configs/all/autostart.sh and add at the top while pgrep omxplayer; do sleep 1; done

@mediamogul 's fix is good, as it will mean ES can be loading in the background to save some time.

The above worked, but like you said - ES loading in the background would be preferred.

Are you referring to splash screen of the first emulator? If so, is it possible to change the first emulator selected on load (default to Retropie configuration)?

Otherwise, how do you add a splash screen behind the video when the video itself is the splash screen?

Sorry I'm not sure what the second part of your post is referring to - I didn't mention any splash screens ?

You mentioned that @mediamogul 's fix is good. How would I accomplish that?

Edit - Appreciate the quick responses.

@mediamogul said "You could also make a splash screen that is all black which would be indistinguishable from normal letterboxing." - he means edit the video, so it is a fullscreen video with black bars etc if needed. Then it would appear in front of emulationtation.

You would need a video editing application or a tool to adjust/transcode the video.

Ah, gotcha. Thought there was another alternative method. I mentioned doing that in the initial post.

                    Thanks.
