GemRB Install Errors
-
Hello there, just want to start out by saying RetroPie is amazing. I bought my first Pi 3 a few weeks ago specifically for it and just purchased my second as well. So far everything has been working great, with the exception of GemRB.
Here's the issue and I apologize if I sound like a dummy, as I'm not yet very familiar with Linux, however I do believe I am doing everything correctly.
I am currently using RetroPie-Setup 4 and when I install GemRB, near 95% or so, I start getting a lot of errors. However it still says installed after completion. After installed, when I attempt to run one of the games (of course after putting the specified files in /home/pi/retropie/roms/ports/baldurs2 for example) it kicks me right back to the game selection screen. I checked the runcommand log and it seems that my /opt/retropie/ports/gemrb folder is completely empty.
I've gone as far as even reformatting my SDCard and then reinstalling RetroPie 3.8 on it and trying to install GemRB without updating the retropie setup. However the problem persists. I know that this folder should not be empty based on the video tutorial on how to properly setup GemRB, which I've now watched at least a dozen times.
I then thought I figured it out by going to the GemRB site and downloading the newest "Statically linked binaries (snapshots)", which appears to contain the files that are missing, sans the 'lib' file. However, the runcommand log now tells me:
"/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 818: /opt/retropie/ports/gemrb/bin/gemrb: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error"
I really am at a loss here. I'm sure there is likely somewhere where I can get and compile this myself and still get it working on RetroPie, however I have no idea how to even begin going about this. I've uninstalled and reinstalled GemRB many many times and reformatted and reinstalled RetroPie almost as many times.
I apologize if I'm missing something dumb here, or if I've left out any information. I don't normally use forums, but I'm really hoping someone here can shed some light on this as I can find no info on such an issue after several days of searching. If there is any info I could post to help with solving this, let me know and I will post it as soon as I get out of work in the morning :)

Might be a bug. I'll check after a nap. :-)

I would appreciate that very much. Thank you in advance!

Re-reading your post, it looks like it didn't compile correctly. However it doesn't contain a check so it doesn't know it has failed to build.
Looks like newer releases don't build - might have different dependencies. For now I have locked it down to v0.8.4 and fixed a few other issues in the module. Please update retropie-setup and remove/reinstall.

@BuZz I will try that out as soon as I get home from work. Thank you very much for looking into that and for such a speedy fix. You are awesome!
EDIT: Works like a charm now! Good to know that it wasn't something I was doing wrong. Thanks again!
