I already tried renaming the SNES rom to "Clock Tower.smc", but it is still not recognized. It is a custom translated rom and therefore does not match the internal rdb (retroarch database) for roms as I learned thanks to google :)

But how to add those custom roms? And why is there a database to begin with? why not just add all the found .smc files to a list?

@naddel81 It will pick up roms that are not in the DB. The DB exists to load metadata about known games, including box art. Have you restarted emulationstation after placing the rom on your Pi? I am guessing this is a Sega ROM based on the .smc, what directory do you have the file in?

I put the file into /roms/snes as the other snes roms.
it loads fine on my PC using snes9x and I already played a few hours. it is a vaild snes rom, but retropie just does not show it on the list even after several restarts.

I even tried to rename it to another rom that is already in the list and therefore force it to play it, but it won't.
the rom is fine, but custom.

I have formatted your post - please format posts as I mentioned in my previous post.

config looks ok - I suspected `ParseGamelistOnly" might be set, which would mean new roms don't show up - but it's fine.

If your rom has the correct extension it should show up in the list - what shows and doesn't show is based on the file extension.

it is a simple .smc file. I uploaded it above to my dropbox. would be great if you could give it a try.

Please email me the details - buzz [at] exotica.org.uk and I will test when I get a moment - It is against the forum rules to post links to roms - even for debugging issues.

@ BuZz: did you find the time to test the rom, yet?

                                best wishes!

I have the translated Clocktower working fine on my system. Just for the heck of it, will it show up if you rename it to a .sfc file (that's how mine is) and then restart EmulationStation?
