Interview with me on the DigitalSoup podcast

@quicksilver lol. Thanks! :-)
-
@BuZz great! It is something different if you just read something or can listen to him.
I enjoyed it very much and have to say thank you for all the great work you did in this project.
I am what you call a nerd or geek since 1986 and the Raspberry in combination with Retropie is by far the most important to me. Love it 😊 -
Nice interview ! "There's a thread on our forums" - mailing lists nostalgia ?
Incidentally, one year ago I was playing Metroid - Zero mission, right after the Metroid GotM challenge last February - which I got into, but didn't finish in time. You should definitely give Metroid Fusion a try - more linear, but still a great Metroid game. -
@buzz yeah cool interview!! I agree I couldn’t tell you were sick. I was a bit surprised you actually have a separate job- I kind of thought this was your job since it must take so much time lol. But I guess I should have realized that if I thought more given that the retropie forum has no ads or affiliate links so you would need to make money some other way haha.

@BuZz How long is soon? ;)
-
@cyperghost good question. I'd hope within next 2 weeks.

That's exciting!
Also I really enjoyed the interview, well done, sir.
-
@BuZz Really enjoyed the interview buddy. Nice to hear more from the people who bring us our favourite hobby. When are the other guys on next :D
-
Great interview Buzz! Thanks to the whole Retropie team and anyone who helps noobs like me!
Would be cool to see in the future possibly a RetroPie podcast. Imo it would be very interesting and the community is huge. I'm sure all you guys are very well off, but the podcast game brings big bucks once you get sponsors from what i hear.
-
@BuZz Any chance you can get some new versions for JZintv or CoolCV for 4.5 ?
I'd submit the PRs, but they're hosted on the RP site.- jzintv has had some newer versions - latest form last December.
- coolcv latest version is from 2017, I think RetroPie has an older version.
-
@mitu I'll update. You can submit a PR with our archive URL and I can update the archives also if you prefer. (With same name / archive structure).
-
Another recent podcast (not mine) that brings up some important points regarding Emulation and RetroPie. Will post this on our main blog. Much appreciated to know there are others that care. I like this guy.

@dan18774 why do you think we are very well off?

Let's see if I can figure it out.
-
@buzz it seems I was wrong about CoolCV, it is the latest version (https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/issues/2401).
For
jzintv
, I can't figure out how to submit an archive and a PR at the same time - for some reason I thought this would be possible.
Anyway, I've testedjzintv
and had to massage the Makefile to get it to compile (git here) on a Pi. I'll test on an x86 machine and submit a PR tomorrow with the new name. -
@BuZz aren't all people with British accents rich? ;)
-
@mitu I'll take a look at the jzintv update. May be quicker for me to do it, since I have to update the archive anyway.
Don't think the Makefile needs adjusting btw. Will do a PR in a min.
-
@mitu https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/pull/2671
BTW it might be worth splitting this chat off this topic as it's unrelated to the podcast.
-
@BuZz the more knowledge someone has the better off they are in real life most the time. At least you guys are comfortable i assume.
-
@dan18774 If they are born in the right place with opportunities. I wouldn't say those that are very well off are likely to be smart either. Also to make the point about ability - perhaps we measure some talents above others.. and we shouldn't.
But I can assure you my motivation with RetroPie isn't financial but I would like to spend more time on it if I could afford to (hence things like my patreon).
I'm happy to do things like that, but you will notice no banner adverts and stuff on the site. Unlike some sites that distribute images with ROMs. I have strong opinions on doing things the right way.
I wouldn't have the time for a podcast btw. But may appear on some others depending on free time. Thanks.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
