Newer version of Drastic compatible with raspberry pi?
-
@theretroprince I couldn't find a setting to hide the mouse pointer. If you have a mouse you can move the pointer to the lower right part of the screen at which point it is hidden for that play session but it will reappear next time you launch a game.
-
Where can I get this update? Unfortunate that mic input still doesn't work but overall sounds like some great improvements

@SartreFan https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroPie/comments/b76w7f/why_isnt_drastic_2504_used/
It's right at the top of the page opened by the link. Read everything at that link for installation instructions.
Edit please backup your system first. Just in case. -
I've been using the older version of Drastic on Pi that worked pretty well already since I already have it installed, can I now upgrade to a new version with no issues?
-
@mat There doesnt seem to be any issues with the newer version. I would recommend making a back-up just in case.
-
Will these new versions be downloadable on the Pi menu in time?
-
@mat Thats a question only BuZz can answer. Im sure at the moment he's busy trying to get retropie 4.5 finished for release. Im curious how he feels about this version as well.
-
@mat I've had no issues at all with Drastic (or the rest of the retropie system) after upgrading to the new version.
-
I can host this version and include it but ideally I would prefer to reference an official release. Hoping they will maybe update the older version. Although happy they have given permission.
-
@BuZz Would even the new versions be added, looks like 2.5.1.1 is the latest.
-
So I've been using 2.5.0.4 for a while now with no problems. But what happens if I decide to update everything through Retropie-Setup? Would that roll DraStic back to 2.5.0.3, since the newer version isn't officially available in RetroPie yet?

Yes, that would install the version distributed by the RetroPie script.
-
@mitu That's what I figured, but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks.
-
I really hope they put out an official release. I'd love a cleaned up version of Drastic on my Pi setup!
-
@A-Bored-Ninja feel free to swap out the binary. Takes about 20 seconds. Link is in the original post.

Awesome! Thanks!
-
@quicksilver did you have to do anything outside of installing it from the experimental packages list to get it running? I can't get drastic to boot games unfortunately.
-
@joe-info Im sure we can get it figured out for you. Can you start a new topic please with the info requested here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

For anyone who want to try the 2.5.0.4 version on his/her pi this is a step by step guide.
SSH/Putty to your Pi or plug a keyboard and press F4 to get local command prompt.
cd /opt/retropie/emulators
sudo mv drastic drastic.old
sudo wget https://github.com/Retro-Arena/binaries/raw/master/odroid-xu4/drastic.tar.gz
sudo tar -xvf drastic.tar.gz
ls -lah (validate file/folders are in place, just make sure you see folder called "drastic")
sudo rebootThe latest release for retropie was 2.5.0.3. With the new update 2.5.0.4 seems to bypass the microphone problem.
All credits going to Virtualman.
