Project for Abandonware Games, the Abandon Pi
-
Hello. I contact you because I have been working for some time on a project for Raspberry Pi reuning on retropie.
The idea would be to play on the retro fever that exists at the moment but unlike a lot of other projects, to remain
totally legal based solely on the important catalog of games available in abandonware, several hundred of which are Multilanguage, and in the form of an all-in-one device called 'The Abandon Pi'.The idea would take the form of a kind of small laptops with keyboard, screen and battery built and running with a
Raspberry Pi 3b +.I had thought of a kind of hatch sliding on the side of which would leave a mini mouse to allow
ergonomics much better than a simple touchpad. The software would therefore have several hundred titles totally free from
right integrated, with a separation by genre or by language (The complete list of abandonware games can be found on this
link:[link removed]
).A lot of great PC game of yesteryear lies in abandonware and this Abandon Box could allow for a fair price
(I thought of a price between 100 and 200 euros, the prototype cost me 120 but the screen bagging more than half the cost
and not being perfectly adapted (Resolution too high for retro)) to a large category of people to discover glories
of yesteryear that have very old age whether Point and Click, strategy games or FPS. I was also thinking about the
possibility of providing a more powerful alternative but requiring a power supply on the sector and taking more form
of an old PC like the Apple 2 or Comodore Amiga, always with the same integrated library as complete as possible,
why not under Odroid or Intel Atom. Here it is, I advance for a few months on my side on this projects and I wanted to know if you would be interested to
join the adventure with me ?Thank you for the attention you could lend to my request and I wish you good luck for the next ;) (And sorry for my
English, i'm french and we are not very good with this language ^^')Ferry Philippe, Voyageabordurift@yahoo.fr

Abandonware doesn't mean free or free of copyright claims / giving you the right to sell it.
The site in question even makes the legality of it quite clear, when defining abandonware (SITE /definition/).
Abandonware France a fait le choix de se spécialiser dans les vieux jeux PC et Mac et en français lorsque cela est possible.
Cette pratique est illégale et n'est que tolérée actuellement.
Translation:
Abandonware France has chosen to specialize in old PC and Mac games and in French whenever possible.
This practice is illegal and is only tolerated now.
So, you'd be selling software for which you have no rights to, illegally IMHO.
As for using RetroPie - see https://retropie.org.uk/about/legal/.
For any software you wish to include (emulators), check if they have a non-commercial clause (even if they're open source), some of the emulators included in RetroPie have this clause in their license.EDIT: I've removed, per the forum rules, the link to the site.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
