Would this be preferable to a
.pbp
compressed image for any reason? -

Well, the biggest benefit would be that compressing to CHD is effortless. All an end-user has to do is supply their PSX games then run a simple batch file alongside chdman.exe from MAME.Example: https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroPie/comments/72kh6q/stepbystep_guide_how_to_convert_sega_cd_or_pc/
Also, CHD is a more efficient compression.
Final Fantasy VII (USA) - PBP: 1.46GB - CHD: 1.27GB
Final Fantasy VIII (USA) - PBP: 2.06GB - CHD: 1.72 GB
Final Fantasy IX (USA) - PBP: 1.75 GB - CHD: 1.44 GB

@Rion Thanks!!! I have used .chd for sega cd and tg16 cd in the past. Just curious.
Suppose Iβll probably wait until the lr-psxARMed core supports it. Exciting news nonetheless.

The links from @Rion are from the Libretro pcsx_rearmed core, so it already supports the format.

Any help with CCD/IMG files? is still CHDMAN not compatible?
-
@Gwyllion you can convert a ccd+img to bin+cue with IsoBuster, or you can mount the image with daemon tools and rip that to bin+cue with imgburn or what have you. As far as I know chdman still doesn't support ccd files, and all you need is a proper cue file (chdman can handle img+wav as long as it has a proper cue file)

Done and works fine, many very thanks!

@Gwyllion Awesome, I should have also mentioned you can burn the image to a cdr then rip it as if it were the original, it makes you feel dirty but it works. I did that with some patched tg-cd games that image burn couldnβt handle. That was before I found isoBuster, truly an MVP program.

@GoldManSex778 CDR?? Is still manufacturing? π

How does PSx-rearmed cope with multi-disc files as .chd?
