Need Help with hidden files
-
So i'm using jrassas emulations station for windows 10 and i'm having allot of fun with it, yea there is a few things i miss from the raspberry pi (like having a * next to the favorites so i know what i have favorite and what i don't (would do anything to have that back) anyways i wanted to ask if anybody knows why my filter gamelist isn't saving. what i mean by that is i have allot of dreamcast games and others that have a (track 1, 2 so on and so on) so i edit the tracks so can be hidden and i don't see them. and when i go to filter gamelist and choose to hide those files on the dreamcast it doesn't save it and when i open up my emulations station the files show up again. it also does that when i tell it to only show my favorites on that system . does anybody know how to make it so it saves? or does anybody know another way to make it so those files are hidden. even going to settings and show hidden files don't work

@OfficialAzyria Filters are not persistent, they're reset once you restart Emulationstation. This functionality is not implemented.
Have you marked the windows files as 'hidden' in Explorer and then toggle the 'show hidden' in Emulationstation's configuration menu ? -
that's in the other settings right? the one were you can change the vram and other stuff? if so yea i did that first "show hidden files" is off and I've turned it off and on to see if anything changes. but it doesn't
-
@OfficialAzyria Did you mark the files as 'hidden' in Windows Explorer ?
-
@mitu can you explain to me how to do that? or which file to edit?

TL;DR - right click on the file(s), go to properties and tick the 'hidden' checkbox.

@mitu i was able to do it thanks. one last question how do i download themes on windows 10?
-
@OfficialAzyria With your browser ? You need to install themes in the
themes
folder of Emulationstation. Find the theme you'd like to download (for instance https://github.com/ruckage/es-theme-snes-mini), use the Clone or Download button and select the Download ZIP link to get the theme packed as a zip file. Unzip the theme, rename the folder (remove themaster
part) and then copy it wholesale into thethemes
folder. Restart Emulationstation and then choose the theme from the theme selector. -
i know that. i didn't know all the themes were on github to be downloaded when looking it up i thought it was on some server like the scraping since every time i look it up everybody was doing it on a retropie and the theme page i didn't see a download page for them.after fixing and getting all that done with i'm still sad nobody was able to help me with my issue on my favorites folder problem. what i mean by that is when i put games into my favorites it doesn't show the full title i gave it. like every game i have i put what region after the title so (USA or Japan, Europe) or i have games that say (Ver 1.1 or (1.2). anyways when i put those in my favorites. it doesn't show the full title. it tells me what system the game is from, but not the full title. it even happens when i make a new collection and i'm not sure if there is a fix and nobody seems to know or doesn't want to help even if i post pictures. now i know this issue might not be a big one to people but it is to me because it really helps me since it tells me what version or region game i play. and i thought the favorites file would show the whole thing. and not cut any of the title out.

@OfficialAzyria I know about your 'sad' issue with the favorites, it was I that answered to your post. You can modify your titles so that the region is not in brackets, this way it will be shown in the title.
All theme in the theme downloader are hosted on Github, so you can find any theme by searching the theme name on Github.

well that would take me almost a month to do every game. the favorites folder should list the whole title even if its in brackets. because all the other folders don't do that.
