Rom load to Retroarch screen

Hello folks, is there a reason why some roms loads directly to the Retroarch screen? Happens with different MAME emulator and Mess ( using any emulator like Coleco or NES for instance) . Normaly when a rom didnt work it return to EmulationStation screen. I've searched for some hint about this but I didnt found anything about this behavior. Thanks
