Few beginner’s questions about Retropie/Raspberry Pie 4B
-
So I’ve been using a Pi Zero until now. Just ordered a Pi4B 4GB. I’d like to know in general what can it do regarding emulation and running games, as I’m planning to make it the main gaming console.
(Please forgive how dense the questions are, I’m very lightly versed in Linux and Retropie).
- Can I install and run Steam games on Pie4B? (I naturally mean these meeting Pi4B’s limits, therefore mostly classic ones)?
- Can I do the same with GOG Galaxy?
- Is it possible and does it make any sense to buy and install an external sound card with Pie4B?
- Should it handle Dreamcast/SegaCD/N64/PS2 emulation? (Yes, I’m aware about the PS2 emulation problems and the PCSX2’s shortcomings; what I’d like to know is whether the machine can technically handle it).
- Can it run Shovel Knight?
Thanks!

@gordonfreemanjr retropie isn't compatible with the pi 4 yet and the few emulators that people have gotten running are probably not well optimized yet to draw any final conclusions. I'm afraid no one can really answer your questions yet because the pi 4 is so new. For now, unless you have some programming knowledge that allows you to test stuff out yourself, you'll have to wait and see.
