[Solved]Samba Shares not working for me

Well I did what Buzz said in terminal and still don't work. But I just seen the // and lol I think you may be right I will try \ instead of //. I bet it was that. Cause I use Linux as well and would have never thought of that. Thanks guys appreciate all the help.

can you ping the hostname? I guess you know the IP, so if you're client is windows (windows 8 you mentioned) it we definately be \hostname or \ipaddress
What is the error?

Yes I can ping the host name and it returns OK. My Pi's IP is 192.168.0.16. It says Unknown Error and gives an error code # when I try to connect with
\\RETROPIEor\\192.168.0.16 -
"#" is the error code?

Make sure "Client for Microsoft Networks" is enabled on your network adaptor. If this is there and you've disabled secure negotiate, I have no idea sorry. Every time I've seen this it's secure negotiate option.
Did you reboot after changing the secure negotiate setting?

OK Client for Microsoft Networks was not there I just added it. Let me reboot brb
