Best bluetooth controllers
-
Looking come some wireless controllers debating if I should go wifi or usb dongle. anyone have any good brands?

Ps3 controllers still need a separate Bluetooth dongle as the onboard Bluetooth of the pi3 makes it unstable. I use wireless Xbox controllers and they work fine for me (though they aren't technically Bluetooth). Personal preference really. Some people use 8bitdo pads as well

hello
im also interested with buying wireless controller. i was thinking about ps3 but its unstable. my plan is to have two wireless controlers connected at once and be ready to play as a player 1 and 2. any sugestions what to choose ? i wanna buy two the same controllers and simply do not know which gives me best 2 players, wireless experience.
many thanks for help -
It may depend on what you're doing with the Pi, in terms of casing. For instance, the wireless Xbox 360 controllers have that unit with a long cord and large dongle that may be tough to fit in a smaller case. It would probably work in something large and boxy like an NES though.
Whereas with Bluetooth, even if you need a dongle it would be pretty small.

Just by curiosity, anyone have tried the 8bitdo snes30? ( http://www.8bitdo.com/snes30/)
It looks great but I don't know how those are in terms of quality -
With controllers, always try and go with OEM stuff. Probably the only exceptions are stuff like Hori, the iBuffalo SNES pad and the 8Bitdo (from what I hear) controllers. You get what you pay for in terms of quality. The generic PS3 and XBOX 360 controllers are notorious for questionable quality. Some are good, but many aren't.
As for wireless, i think that the PS# and Xbox setups have been well discussed and should work fine.
I attempted to get Wiimotes going and could never get the analog sticks working on the Classic Controller. I need to circle back around and try now that bluetooth is more mature on the Jessie builds. I have an IOGEAR USB BT4.0 adapter that is on the recommended list and never had any problems with it connecting and pairing.
