Hi, I just bought my first RPI, I installed the latest retropie image and booted up. I also tested out ssh into it. It occured to me that I might need a keyboard and mouse, to set it up and config it? I have no usb-keyboards. I only have my Apple wireless keyboard and trackpad.

Can I use my iPhone as keyboard?
Or can I remote into it with my mac (screen sharing/vnc type thing?)

I don't know what my next step is, and could use some guidance.

      Best regards,
      Evilmurray

I invested in a cheap USB keyboard from Amazon for the initial setup. Most of the time now I just SSH into it. I haven't had a need for a mouse yet on my Pi, but I have an old USB one around if I need it.

@obsidianspider I will need a physical keyboard for the initial setup? No iphone apps or such that is useful? Thanks for your quick input, mate.

I'm not sure if you need one, but I got one to make my life easier. The $10 I spent on the keyboard I felt was worth it. It's not going to go bad sitting in a box until I need it in the future, and then I'll have it for whatever other projects I come up with.

@evilmurray Most of your initial setup can be done with a combo of SSH to edit config files and a USB gamepad to change settings in EmulationStation and the "RetroPie" menu in EmulationStation. You can turn on Bluetooth, setup wifi, add new emulator packages all from the RetroPie menu using a USB gamepad.

@obsidianspider I'm sure it will come in handy later. I'll order one too.

@wmcclelion Cool, I'll fiddle around some more with the gamepad then. Thanks. :)
