Running roms in retropie from external hard disk
-
Hello, i have a 320 Gb external USB hard drive, with a dedicated ad dc adapter, to run roms from there i have some questions:
-
What file system should i use? It is NFTS formatted, it ma be ok?
-
the directory containing roms has to be named specifically?
-
the above mentione directory can cohesist with some other ones? I have already one in the root containing some personal videos.

I'm think to buy a 2 TB 2.5'' self-powered drive, with USB 3.0 micro b connection cable, i have the official raspberry AD adapter that is a 3.0 mhA. Won't be probles with power supply or i should stay with a dedicater powered one?
Thanks in advance :)

@niculinux most of your questions can be answered by this article from the docs
I can speak from experience that NTFS will work just fine (it's what I'm using on both builds I run at home) but FAT32 is recommended if you will need the ability to read the drive on multiple system types (MAC in particular).
The retropie-mount folder can coexist just fine with other folders (retropie/raspbian will just ignore anything that it isn't told to mount).
There are probably some drives that are powered through USB that the Raspberry Pi won't run but I've used this Western Digital drive on several builds with no problems at all.

@simpleethat I too use that same drive and it works flawlessly.

@KN4THX you really can't beat them for the price.
