Did you write your SD from a RetroPie image? Which PSX emulator are you using?
Is it a bin/cue you are trying to run? Do other system emulators work ok for you?

        My apologies!

        Pi Model: RP3
        RetroPie Version Used: 4.0 Rc1
        Built From: SD Image
        USB Devices connected: Keyboard
        Controller used: PS3 Bluetooth
Guide used: wiki and a video guide here.

        Emulator: lr-pcsx-rearmed

I am using bin/cue files of US roms. SNES, NES, and FBA work flawlessly. I poked around with this for about 5 hours today, racking my brain. Should I attach some config files?

@pointyboot try going into retropie settings, go to retropie setup and in there update retropie-setup script and then while you are in there after that reinstall lr-pcsx-rearmed.

@edmaul69 Thanks for the reply! I tried reinstalling from source earlier today. I will give binary a try soon as I can.

@pointyboot i could be wrong but i think binary was the fix for some people having issues with this libretro core.

Does it matter which region my roms are?

@pointyboot not if you have the region setting in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg set to auto it shouldnt matter at all

Thanks! Tried setting to "Auto" but it didn't cure any woes.

Any difference if you rename your .cue so it doesnt have the ' or the [], just call it tony.cue or something, and then same for your .bin (changing relevant name inside the .cue file).

@Floob Just tried all three and no change. I've tried many other games as well. The []'s aren't actually part of the filename but in the log output for some reason. I also tried many different bin files from around the net.

In your first post you mention some file changes you have made, do you have a spare SD card to try a vanilla install of RC1 and choose the quick install option and try from there?
Have you tried a different psx emulator to see if that works?
Does the bin/cue work on your PC?

Good news! I tried an alternate SD card install and it worked. I'll be more mindful before i make changes to the configs from now on. Thanks everyone for your help!
