Xin-mo 2 player configuration

@BJRetro the instruction manual that came with the arcade kit said put pins anywhere because you will use retropie to program inputs but I took your advice and looked at diagram and put the joystick pins on the board where diagram says up down left right and when I go to retropie and select program inputs it still won't play Pacman correctly
-
if you are sure it is connected correct, you could try and just short out the microswitch that does not seem to activate, to see if the connections are good.
if this is used hardware, then perhaps the microswitch is broken for that direction. -
@Halvhjearne part of the problem is that the direction of the joystick controls doesn't match what is programmed. If I hit up on the joystick to program it functions as down it right might be left etc. When I'm outside of the game the joystick seems to function properly for moving through the retropie functions
-
your problem is most likely that the encoder has 2 functions using the mode switch.
in one mode, it will emulate analog to digital and the other mode will be pov/digital mode.
try to make sure it is switched to pov/digital mode and then remap the joystick again.
-
@Halvhjearne what menu would show the"mode" selection?
-
there is no menu to show this, you can see which mode it is in, when you configure the joystick directions.
if its in analog mode, it will show up as an "axis (+/-)", if its in pov/digital mode it will show up as "pov (direction)" -
@Halvhjearne I apologize this is my lack of knowledge and frustration at this point. What settings menu would show it might be axis versus analog? Are we talking about retroarch?)
-
in emulationstation controller configuration
-
@Halvhjearne I apologize again I am not seeing anything in the configuration that says axis versus pov digital. I did think of something else should I not be using the"D" pad buttons to configure the joystick for player one and player 2 in the configure input screen? Thank you for your help
-
there is no indication of wheter it is in either mode anywhere, you will only see when configuring the joystick that the direction will show as either an axis or pov switch.
the mode switch is on the encoder and you will need to connect a physical button to switch between them, however it will remember which mode it is set to after a shutdown.
