      Hi there,
I wonder if any of the mame emulators on retropie is able to run Robocop 2 (japan). As I tried and tried but none of them seems to work (not missing files, just blank screen and then return to the main mame screen). Many thanks

that's also what happens when you have missing files...

@capt-commodore You should learn more about arcade roms and their connection to often specific versions of emulators. https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Arcade/ and https://docs.mamedev.org/usingmame/aboutromsets.html are a good start.

In short, you have to find the specific rom version for your chosen emulator, and also better make sure that you have the "non-merged" version (every rom zip has all of the needed files in it). If you have the "split" version of your rom and it's a so-called "child" rom, you'll also need the parent rom for it to work.

@capt-commodore Assuming you have the right romset, it also works on FBNeo.
