I recently downloaded retropie version 4.5.1 for the raspberry pi 3 and when i try to unzip the file i get an error saying "Can not open the file as [gzip] archive" how do i fix this?

Try re-downloading again the image, it seems to be corrupted. What program are you using the unpack the image ?
