Retroinc SEGA Controller Help

Hi guys,
I just got my Raspberry Pi 3 and Retroinc controller today and have been playing NHL 94' and having a blast!

I downloaded a complete SEGA ROM pack and am starting to think my controller is not configured correctly.

The buttons I have are X Y Z on top row and A B C on bottom row (plus left and right triggers on top)

I used the controller setup in the RetroPie UI but am thinking it may be wrong. For instance, I've never been able to use my "C" button because I don't believe it's mapped correctly. I mapped it by just matching the letters up with mine but a bunch were not used.
Does anyone have this controller or something similar and may be able to help?

Also, has anyone used this controller (or similar) to play SNES or other console games?

If it is a 6 button layout you need to set it up this way:

Top row
Lt, x, rt

Bottom row
Y, b, a

If is a 4 button layout you need to set the buttons identical to a super nintendo controller.
