Problems with installation
-
Trying to install in a Raspberry Pi 4 B on Raspbian.
I've been following this guide: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/install-retropie-app-raspberry-pi/My Pi rebooted to this screen: https://imgur.com/YOgerPO
I then need to enter "emulationstation". This ends up in this screen: https://imgur.com/hulZeVVIf I in the Advanced Options in raspi-config disables the GL-driver, I don't get the two top lines of the path not being found, but it still doesn't work. This is the messages then: https://imgur.com/cXRwYMs
I found this thread: https://old.reddit.com/r/RetroPie/comments/76yd4a/error_msg_in_terminal_when_typing_emulationstation/
which mentions that I could try and logout of the desktop (which I go to by alt+F7). It correctly logs me out it seems by taking me to the login for my user.
I do however still get the errors when I type in emulationstation.I saw some posts mentioning that you can put the GPU memory to 256 in Raspberry Pi configuration -> Performance, but it doesn't seem to work.
Any advice for me?

That's not yet supported.
Any advice for me?
Wait until RetroPie is supported on the Raspberry Pi4.
EDIT: support for the PI4 is in progress, if you'd like to try that out you can use the
fkms_rpi4
branch of the RetroPie-Setup Github repository and install over Raspbian Buster Lite, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're a Linux beginner. -
@mitu Oh that makes sense then. Thanks a lot for clearing that up.
And you're probably right that I should wait for the Pi4 to be officially supported before I begin again :)
