You need to change the permissions of the file you are attempting to overwrite.
Try to send a command like: ''sudo chmod 777 filename'' from the dir where your target file is.

If tetris has thought me anything, it's that errors pile up and that accomplishments dissappear.

          @Zigurana

          So what I did:

          • I copied the emulatiostation file
          • I copied this text and made a sh file

          https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dissolve/RetroPie-Setup/gridview/scriptmodules/supplementary/emulationstation-gridview.sh

          • placed the sh file in the same directory as other experimental packages.

          • reboot the pie and then went to the setup in ssh. Went to the experimental packages and nothing.

          Where do I f up?

@trekdrop are you on the latest version of retropie?

also did you copy the script here?

              /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/supplementary

if you're logged into ssh as user pi
              you can essentially type

              nano /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/supplementary/emulationstation-gridview.sh

and then copy the script and right click in your ssh window (which should paste it)

              press ctrl+x

              press y

              press enter

then you should be able install it from experimental from the setup script

@trekdrop if you're using the script you need to compile it manually from source

Then in the gamelist view you press select to change it to grid view

                    That's probably really difficult.

So I tried copy the real emulationstation file and still nothing...

Can you still advice me what to do?

It's a shame I can't get it to work this and game vids where the two thinks I really want.

@trekdrop it's really not difficult. You open the setup script select emulationstation-gridview and press compile from source.

All the same the latest changes have problems of its own duplicating boxart and other things.

Sorry for the dump question but do you mean.

I go to the setup script from retropie.
                        Go to experimental packages.
                        Go to grid view.
                        And than compile from source.

Or do I need to open the sh file and then
                        compile from source.

you need the latest retropie for it to work

I am really stuck! I think I will do it one time from the start. Because I really don't have the option grid view in the setup menu.

So, now I am just stuck.

I made the sh file copied everything still there is no option to install the grid view inside experimental packages.
