Using an Backupimage from a Raspi 2 on a Raspi B+ ?
-
Hi,
I have a well running Retropie on a Raspiberry 2,
now I want to give this ready Retropie- installation (including all setting ...) to my son. He has a B+ ModellI clone the SD (this works fine, the clone is running in the Raspberry 2!!), but in the Raspberry B+ the boot ends with "Illegal instruction".
Is there a change to get this configured image running on the Raspi B+? Maybe run updates (like: apt-get update ... ??)I found this (but not tested), any experiance if this can work?

A B+ model, as in a Raspberry Pi 1 B+ model or as a 3B+ model ? The RetroPie images are tailored (for now) into Pi1/0 or PI2/3, so a Pi2 image would not work on a Pi1 - they're not compatible.

Amazon Webpage call it only "Raspberry Pi Model B+" so I thought the name is unique ...
Shit, seems not a 3 B+ Model, /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/model :
Pi Model B Plus Rev 1.2So not a Version 3 :-(
Must send back ...Will the Image from Raspi 2 work on a Raspi 3B+, or bether to by a Raspi 3 (or 3B) ?

The Amazon web page you linked shows a Pi1 B+ model, not a 3B+. The 3B+ has 1Gb or RAM and a 1.4 Ghz CPU.
Here's a rundown of all Raspberry Pi models - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raspberry_Pi#Specifications. -

Yes, I also find it out ... the old more model is there more expensive as the Raspi 3 ...

Get a 3B+ model, and try to find a local store first before amazon/ebay/etc.

@top-specci a pi 2 image will work on a 3b+ as long as it's an image based on raspbian stretch. If it's an older retropie version then it will not work on the 3b+.
