Emulation Station/RetroPie not accepting joystick movements (apart from up)
-
I'm trying to set up an arcade table - literally a table with a couple of joysticks and buttons on it but no screen, and I've got a Rasperry Pi attached to them, with RetroPie on it. I'm using a pair of zero delay USB connectors, and I've made sure the buttons are attached to the same ports on each controller.
But the problem's not with the buttons, it's the joystick. Emulation Station prompts me to define the keys and while it accepts D-Pad Up (it shows as Axis -1) pressing the joystick in any other direction is ignored, as if I haven't pressed it. It doesn't matter which joystick I try using, left or right, it accepts D-Pad up but then no other joystick commands.
I can assign the D-Pad directions to buttons, which shows it's not frozen, but I'm not sure what's going on here. Does anyone have any idea what's up with this and how to fix it?
Pi Model or other hardware: 3B+
Power Supply used: Official Raspberry Pi supply.
RetroPie Version Used 4.5.1
Built From: SD from website.
USB Devices connected: Joysticks (as below)
Controller used: Dragonrise joysticks. -
Dragonrise is such a generic name for the joystick, it's used in a lot of usb encoders - do you have a more specific model ?
Is the joystick working on another system, just to eliminate a faulty wiring ? -
The exact model is "Reyann Zero Delay Arcade USB". But I got it working - turned out that, without the aid of the chunkier Pandora joystick connectors, I'd put the 5 pin joystick connector on the wrong way round!
