REPOSTING a topic

@administrators
@Global-ModeratorsI posted a utility I've written here the other day and i was informed that forum rules prohibit software which can download ROM files. I have removed the offending ability completely and would like to re-submit it.
http://romjacket.github.io/skeletonkey/index.htmlI am trying to abide strictly to the forum rules and would like users to be able to enjoy my software in good conscience, however I crippled this tool in a rather dramatic way which prevents any ROMs whatsoever from being downloaded.
ie:
I would prefer to merely disable access to repositories unsuitable for this community because I believe users will benefit greatly from an extensive library of home-brew and ROMs legitimately in the public domain.Please let me know if this is acceptable and if I can re-enable access to the public domain/home-brew library.
Thanks! -
As I said in your previous topic, as long as your utility abides by the forum rules, it's ok to post your project in the Projects and Ideas forum.
I don't see the lack of downloading ROMs as 'crippling' . RetroPie doesn't distribute any ROMs, but that doesn't cripple it in any way. As for downloading public domain/homebrews, unless they have attached a free-to-us and redistribute license, then they're not really free - redistributing them, even by just providing a downloader, might not be allowed.

Full ack!
IMO the retropie-project and ROMS/Images are two different things - even if they depend on eachother to make sense.
And therefore retropie should never implant any direct channels to any sites or databases containing copyrightet material.It is no Problem to find enough food for the rom-folders by just searching the internet with Google or any other search-engine.
The retropie-project should stay clean, there is no reason to offer any shortcuts to rom-collections imo.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
