Running EmulationStation through SSH
-
I've searched and found several posts about starting EmulationStation through ssh, but all the ones I've found specify starting ES so it runs on the system RetroPie is installed on.
My desktop is a Mac and I have no problem with using 'ssh -Y somelinuxbox' to log into the other Linux systems on my LAN and running programs with a GUI through ssh so the program on the Linux box opens a window on my Mac screen. I tested this on my RetroPie system and installed a simple game (Amphetamine) with apt. I ran it through ssh from my Mac and the Amphetamine window opened on my Mac.
I cannot do this with EmulationStation. I know speed will be an issue. For instance, if I try to run Amphetamine on via ssh so it opens on my Mac, it's too slow to be playable. But since my RetroPie system is not in my home and not always easily accessible, physically, it would help, sometimes, if I could test configurations remotely, through ssh.
Is there a way I can start EmulationStation with ssh so it will open the display on my Mac? Even if it's slow to update, that
would still help me with setting things up and testing configurations. -
It's not possible, since EmulationStation (on a Pi) doesn't use the X.org libraries and it's not an X11 application.

Well, I guess that's one thing I can mark off my "To do" list!
Thanks.
