Super mario world snes resets suddenly after i begin to walk through first level

I bought a pre made retro pie on raspberry pie 3 a few years ago and recently have gotten more interested in it aside form just playing games (new themes, updates etc) i scrapped my old one and re set up adding only games i wanted to play (used to get lost scrolling for hours lol) i have tried a few different super mario world roms and keep getting the same problem. The game resets shortly after i begin the level. the bottom left of the screen said "state slot D" and then below it "reset". any help is much appreciated :)

@spaniel48 We don't support 3rd party images, especially the ones sold with the hardware/roms.
