NEW! Chicuelo Dark Theme

Hey all,
Apologies for reviving such an old thread, but I was wondering what happened to this particular theme. Has development stop?
I have fallen in love with @chicuelo's amazing artwork and I truly believe that his original Chicuelo theme is hands down the best theme for Retropie, so I'd love to help out bring this new theme of his to life!
I've been working non-professionally with graphics & photography for over 25 years now and am currently studying programming with the aim of a computer degree, so working with graphics and XML is not new to me.

Thanks nil, I simply removed the theme because I catch lot of people selling cabs and mini consoles with my theme and claiming it was their own work. Some great designers kindly shared some graphics they have created and agreed to do this while the theme was a free and a non commercial stuff. I have no choice

@chicuelo I totally understand your choice to keep your theme away from these greedy monkeys. However, just to be clear: are you referring to your other theme or to this dark theme as well? Was this theme ever available and you deleted it or you never developed it?
As I said before, I think this dark theme is a real beauty and if you never finished development it would be a shame to let such an idea go to waste.
Since I sent my earlier message yesterday I spent a little time and got an early version of this dark theme up and running on my Retropie. There is quite a long way to go still but I think it looks reasonably ok...
Would you be interested in me reviving this thread? I am not looking for credit at all; it is your idea and your theme. I'm only interested in polishing it up and sharing with the community. :) -
@nil06 This theme was an attempt to creating a sleeker version, but I never start coding it (I also have no Idea how to do it :D), I only have the graphic files of the interface

@chicuelo hey dude , u r really amazing , for fact i know about emulationstation judt because of .. i like your theme , black and white one so much .. but when i try to download from github it's only download the readme file .. so i there any alternative download link for personal use , or a way to get it ..

@Mr-Berlin The theme is unavailable for the reasons we have been talking above. There are some mods out there, maybe you can find one and use it

@chicuelo Well, I already managed to code the System screen and even though I don't have your amazing graphics, I think I did a reasonably ok job to make it look very similar.
If you don't want to continue the theme, is it ok if I do it?
Related questions:
- What fonts did you use? (I used Acre and BebasNeue but if you have a better suggestion I am all ears.)
- For the characters I guess you used a game graphics background with a black-transparent gradient, and then a character render on top, but how did you create the game background? Did you find each game individually on the net? Did you draw the backgrounds yourself?
- Are your System and Gamelist screens just mock-ups?
- In the Gamelist you have a faded background image (a game controller?) behind the game details. Again did you just look for such images on the net?
If you have any such images and don't mind sharing you'd be saving me a lot of time.

@nil06 you can MP or email me and we can go ahead with the theme, but the only one condition is that you wouldn't share it. If that's ok for you we can work together on the theme

I have no interest in selling anything and the only reason to do this was for me. As I mentioned earlier I am studying computer languages and I've also done some graphics work in the past, so this is an interesting project for me.
I can't find how to MP anyone here, so if you can tell me how to do that (or if you can message me) that will be great!

Here is a sample of what I've done so far.
The first is the system "character" (or "poster" as I'd call it). I've created a template in GIMP where I can just change the character's render and the background and it can be saved as a new system.
The second sample is what I see in Retropie system at the moment.
As I said, it's not complete but it's a good start I think.

I am little confused now. Is this theme available anywhere or completely disappeared? It is the best looking theme by far and I would like to use it for my Pi4 build I am about to start next week.
@chicuelo can it possibly be installed manually or is there any chance to ever make this theme work again for me? for personal use only

No, it's not available - since the author has removed it from github.

@Spiky I never released this theme so it was never available. The other theme chicuelo was free for use but shutted down due commercial and profit issues by many people
