Splashscreen failing to start
-
Hi system details below. Splashscreens are failing to start. Appreciate any help...
Initially they were working fine but with no sound. So I edited /opt/retorpie/supplementary/splashscreen/asplashscreen.sh
from
OMXPLAYER -o both
to
OMXPLAYER -o alsa
That did not work so I edited it back to
-o both
That's all I did and now splashscreens won't load. I get the bootup warning
[FAILED] Failed to start Show custom splashcreeens
See 'systemctl status asplashscreen.service' for details.I've tried:
Retropie config>Splashscreens>Update Retropie splashcreens but no luck
If I try "Preview splashcreen" that plays them fine (with no sound)Pi 3B+

If you run the command indicated, does it show the reason for the error ?
systemctl status asplashscreen.service
How did you configure the splashscreen ? Video/images ? Where are they located ?

Thanks for the reply, I ran the command and got:
Failed (result exit-code)
ExecStart=/opt/.../asplashscreen.sh (Main process exited, code=exited, status=203/EXEC)Unit entered failed state
Failed with result 'exit-code'They are video (mp4) files in ~/Retropie/splashscreens

~/Retropie/splashscreens
Is this folder on an USB drive or mounted from the network ?
-
No - it's on the SD Card

Reinstall the
splashscreen
package and see if you - at least - get the video back. -
SOLVED (still no sound but that's another story)
Sorry, I didn't realize the whole package could be removed from the Main Packages area. Thanks for your help!

Try using the Sound configuration in the RetroPie system (or using
raspi-config
) to force the sound on the HDMI or the 3.5'' jack.
