      What is the MAME ROW?

MAME ROW stands for MAME Random Of the Week. We randomly select an arcade game from the 0.78 MAME Reference Set to play on the week. The idea is to play games we've never played before, interact with other forum members, post hi-scores, share game strategies, fun facts, and (the most important) HAVE FUN!

We will play the winner all next week.

@AndersHP Very tough game to play ! Sometimes enabling a couple of cheats makes it easier to play..haha ! I'm a big fan of the Metal Slug series and this was made by the creators of Metal Slug before MS was created.

I remember 720 being really cool in the arcades, but the controls are very difficult to feel "natural". In The Hunt is a cool twist on the "Metal Slug gameplay".

@IanDaemon Thats because the joystick on the arcade machine is special, I believe it doesn't center or something like that.

@ByteThis I know, and graphics style is quite similar. Very cool game indeed.

I wasted a lot of time (and quarters...) on 720 in my youth. Never played In the Hunt. Will have to try it.

System Config: Retropie 4.4 with full desktop, RPi 3B, 256gb SD, 5v 2.1A 5,200 mAH USB battery. EasyMSX controller mounted with Pimoroni Hyperpixel 4 (non touch). Also running 4.6 on a 4gb Pi 4 serving as my primary desktop computer now.

I remember two cabinets in the arcades for 720....an initial "skateboard" control cabinet and then later a "traditional" control cabinet.

                          Maybe I'm going crazy.

It looks like the game doesn't have a hiscore or attract mode to show the hiscores. I took a screenshot after beating the 1st level (got shut down early in the 2nd). Seems like a slow paced shmup, easy to get into. 88500 so far.

EDIT: I used this guide to learn about the power-up system. It's briefly explained in the game's poster.

In The Hunt is a cool, slower paced, game. I dig it.

OK, so it turns out there's a hiscore - it just appeared at the end. Didn't get much further than the previous hiscore, but managed to improve it slightly - 105200.
