I have been trying to get this to work for weeks (half-heartedly at first), and I'm sick of it never working.
I have tried installing bluez, blueman and blueman group, but I can't get it to work.
I checked the status of the bluetooth and was met with this:

      bluetooth.service - Bluetooth service
      Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/bluetooth.service; enabled)
Active: failed (Result: signal) since Thu 2016-04-21 17:09:43 UTC; 31min ago
      Docs: man:bluetoothd(8)
      Main PID: 663 (code=killed, signal=KILL)
      Status: "Running"

Is there something I can do, or is the internal bluetooth busted?
      My wi-fi works fine.
I've tried connecting NES30 Pro and my Asus gamepad for the Nexus Player.
      But no luck.

When I manually search for them, they show up.
Everything freezes when I try to go through connect and register-process through RetroPie-setup.
It freezes aswell when I try bluetoothctl through terminal.

No one can help me? Is there anyway to know if the board is faulty or not? :(

Did you update and upgrade? Try sudo apt-get install pi-bluetooth?

I'd start over. Download the retropie image and flash it.

Then follow this guide. Just do it top to bottom.
